Schedule a Week of Social Media Posts in One Go 🗓️
Hi, Ben here.
One of the biggest reasons people give up on a new project is the pressure of posting on social media every single day. Waking up and thinking "What do I post today?" is a recipe for burnout.
A much better way is to "batch" your content—spending a short amount of time creating a whole week's worth of posts in one go.
This recipe will show you how to use AI as your social media manager to generate a week of content based on your themes, so you can schedule it and forget about it.
What You'll Need
- Tool: ChatGPT (Free version works great)
- Time: 10 minutes
- Difficulty: Easy
Step 1: Decide on Your Weekly Themes
Think about the kinds of things you want to talk about each week. This gives the AI some structure. You don't need many, just 2 or 3 is fine.
For our Hartlepool Community Gardening Club example, our themes are:
- Simple gardening tips.
- Community engagement and questions.
- Updates on what we're doing at the club.
Step 2: Copy the "Magic" Prompt
This prompt is a bit more advanced. It asks for a full content calendar in a table format, making it super easy to read. It requests the post copy, a suggestion for an image, and relevant hashtags for each day.
Copy this entire block of text:
Act as my friendly and creative social media manager. I want to create a content plan for one week (Monday to Friday).
Please generate a table with three columns: "Day", "Post Text", and "Image Suggestion".
The posts should be based on the following themes: [List your themes here].
Make the tone encouraging and helpful. Each post should be short and include relevant hashtags.
My project is: [Describe your project here]
Step 3: Use the Prompt in ChatGPT
- Go to the ChatGPT website.
- Paste the "Magic" Prompt into the chat box.
- Replace the
[List your themes here]
and[Describe your project here]
parts with your own information from Step 1. - Hit Enter.
Step 4: Get Your Full Week Content Plan
The AI will generate a complete table, ready for you to use. It will look something like this:
AI's Content Plan:
Day | Post Text | Image Suggestion |
---|---|---|
Monday | Happy Monday, everyone! 🌱 Let's start the week right. Tip: Deadheading your flowers (pinching off the old blooms) encourages new growth and more flowers! What are you hoping to see bloom this week? #GardeningTips #MondayMotivation | A close-up, colourful photo of a flower being deadheaded. |
Tuesday | We're thinking of starting a seed swap at the club! What kind of seeds would you be most excited to trade? Let us know in the comments 👇 #CommunityGarden #Hartlepool #SeedSwap | A simple graphic with text that says "Seed Swap! What's on your wish list?" |
Wednesday | Project Update: The new water butt is installed! A huge thank you to everyone who helped. This will help us save water and keep our plants happy all summer long. 💧 #Sustainability #Community | A photo of the newly installed water butt next to the greenhouse. |
Thursday | Quick question for all the tomato growers out there: What's your secret weapon for the tastiest tomatoes? 🍅 #GrowYourOwn #TomatoTips | A vibrant photo of different types of ripe tomatoes in a basket. |
Friday | It's Friday! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend in the garden. Here's a shot of the beautiful marigolds that are protecting our veggies. ✨ #GardenLife #HappyFriday | A beautiful, sunny shot of the marigolds in the garden. |
You now have five high-quality posts. You can use a scheduling tool to set them all up on a Sunday evening and not have to think about social media for the rest of the week. It's a game-changer!
Step 5: Schedule Your Posts
Once you have your posts, you'll need a way to schedule them to go live automatically. Using a scheduling tool saves a huge amount of time. Most have great free plans that are perfect for getting started. Popular options include Buffer and Meta's own Business Suite for Facebook and Instagram.
